This is infuriating.
Yesterday, EA Sports started offering downloadable content for XBOX 360 users. You can download two new stadiums, and some alternate jerseys for your team. Hooray, right? WRONG. They are charging $3.50 for each download. Not $3.50 for everything put together, $3.50 for each item. I cannot even begin to express in words, how infuriating that is. Writing this post in red was just one way I figured I could express my anger. When you spend $59.99 on a video game, it should include everything in it from the beginning. And, if it doesn't you sure as HELL shouldn't have to pay more in order to get it. The XBOX 360 itself was $400, not including a second controller or some other accessories. So charging extra for additional items in a game when they should be there in the first place is inexcusable.
There are two other things that REALLY bother me about this too. Two years ago, EA signed a contract with the NFL which stated for the next for the next 7 years that they will be the only company with the NFL license. Meaning, no other video game company can use players from the NFL, or the team names. Which brings me to my second point.
I used to buy the NFL2K series of football games. Which included 3 times the amount of content EA offered, and the game only costed $19.99!!!!!!!!!!! Now that EA is a monopoly in terms of the NFL license, they charge $59.99 for their game, and $3.50 per downloadable item. Competition is good for everyone. And now, since there isn't any, we the consumer are getting bent over. I can't wait for that 7 year contract to be over. In fact, I'd buy a football game from 2k sports right now if they offered one, without the NFL license.
Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should do it, EA. Shame on you.
