When I was 12...

My family and I all went to Tahoe during the Winter. We brought our Nintendo Entertainment System. And when we got there, my Dad and my brother Steve went to the video store to rent a movie and a game for the NES. When they got back, Steve had rented a game called "Rush N' Attack". But when he brought it in, I beat him up a little bit, took it from him and I played it the entire weekend. I didn't let him play it one time. I have felt so bad about that event my entire life that it seriously makes me sick to my stomach to think about. I hate that I did it. And I doubt Steve even remembers it, but it still makes me sad to think about. So today I went on Ebay and bought a Nintendo Entertainment System and Rush N' Attack. I'm going to give it to him when I see him next. Hopefully I won't have anymore guilt about it after that.

I bought some Axe Body Spray this weekend...

And I've yet to have hordes of extremely hot girls throw themselves at me and/or fight each other for me. Maybe I bought the wrong scent??

Earth is Gods MMORPG....

What is an MMORPG you ask? An MMORPG is defined as a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. Think of it like the old board game Dungeons and Dragons that you heard so much about, long long ago. However now, with the internet, it's become possible for hundreds of thousands of people to play the same game at the same time, online. The point of every MMORPG is to build a character, give them certain attributes, and then begin your journey. MMORPG's have no ending, and you can play as long as you keep paying the $15 per month. It can take years for you to turn your created character into a force to be reckoned with. The game designers have made these games so that massive amounts of time are required before you can reach certain goals and levels. Another thing about MMORPG's is that if you create your character to be a warrior, you won't have the same skills and abilities as someone who created their character to be a blacksmith or wizard.

Are you seeing where I'm going with this? Lately I've been extremely frustrated with some of the things I wasn't created with. About a month ago in church, we had a good message (sermon) about God-given gifts and abilities. There was a lot said that was good for me to hear. Basically, I have my specific personality and skill sets for a reason. And the fact that I have a desire and passion to work in film and entertainment is from God. But like I said, I've also been frustrated that I wasn't blessed with some other skillsets.

Primarily, I have definitely not been blessed with the ability to make good money. My whole life I've pretty much lived check to check, and have made just enough to get by and provide for my family. I get pretty down on myself at times because of that fact. Despite some pretty high-profile jobs, I've never made over $50k a year. I'll be 30 in less than 6 months, and have only been promoted once in my life. Professional skills are just something I was not blessed with. Right now I am the lowest paid person at my job. The receptionist makes more than me. I'm the Webmaster and IT help desk. In the bay area alone, these jobs pay upwards of $60k. But for some reason, I am extremely below that. It's just always been like that for me.

However. At the same time, I am extremely grateful and thankful for the abilities and skills and blessings that have been given to me. I enjoy being able to talk to people and hitting it off right off the bat. I love my family. I am so blessed to have a daughter and one on the way. I know people who try for years to have a baby and it never happens for them. I know having children is far more of a blessing than being able to make a lot of money. But it is frustrating that I feel like I'm not giving my family everything they need and deserve.

I've praying overtime lately for a new job. (Yet again) I honestly feel like if I'm finally able to live my dream, in the film industry, that it won't matter how much money I'm making. Maybe I'm wrong. But I honestly feel that if I'm given the chance to live my dream, a lot of my frustration of making peanuts, sitting behind a desk all day will be gone. It's hard not only doing something I loathe, but the fact that I'm grossly underpaid on top of it makes it all the more harder.

And that's why Earth is God's MMORGP. He's given all of us certain abilities and skills, and we've all set out on journeys to "level up" and get better at those skills. I'm quite content with my gifts and abilities, I just want to be able to use them more than I'm able to right now in my life. If there was some sort of quest I could go on for a few hours that would result in a treasure chest of power ups and things like that, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Sometimes I wish life was more like an MMORPG.

I seriously hate....

Those internet advertisements that take over the whole web page. You know the ones. Where you're browsing along, and all of a sudden your whole page turns into an ad for Fantastic Four, or Cialis, or Goodyear tires. The ones that have the SUPER tiny "close" box hidden somewhere in it. Man those things are REALLY annoying. A lot of them have sound too. So not only are you bombarded with an intrusive ad, you also have to hear someone telling you "Congratulations. You've been chosen to receive a free IPod Video!" And by the way, that's a lie. You were never chosen. It's all just a ploy. Anyway, a website I go to often, rottentomatoes.com had a top 100 movies derived from comic books. EVERY single page (100 of them) had a 10 second advertisement for the Matrix Trilogy High Def DVD's. Seriously. Every page. I had to sit there and watch the Ad, 100 times. And no, I'm not going to tell you what movie was number 1. You're going to have to go through the same agony as me to find out.

Supposedly these are real examples of test answers given by high school students. Quite funny if you ask me. And you did ask me. Click the link:

Oceans 13 is quite possibly my favorite movie of all time. I need to sleep on it though. However, right now I am definitely leaning toward that school of thought.

Arguing a call in baseball is pointless...

I've been watching baseball the better part of my life. I've seen hundreds of managers come out of the dugout and argue with the umpire after a perceived bad call. Usually the manager says something he shouldn't, and ends up getting thrown out of the game. But EVERY time the argument ends the same. The umpire NEVER changes the call. EVER. The first recorded argument in baseball history was 1846. 161 years later, and tens of thousands of arguments later, umpires still win 100% of the time. It is entirely pointless for a player or manager or anyone for that matter to argue a call with the ump. They're like a dictator. Whatever they say, goes.

Think about it, have you ever seen the umps gather together to even discuss the call after a manager comes out and argues it? Nope. It just doesn't happen in baseball. I think Major League Baseball should consider having some sort of instant replay system like the NFL. Perhaps allowing 2 "challenges" a game. And don't come at me with your "integrity of the game" nonsense. We've evolved. We have technology that can help aid close calls and the like, and it's time baseball embraced it.

So in the meantime, I'd appreciate it if managers just yelled a few slurs from the dugout and stopped slowing down an already slow sport.

Quite possibly even scarier than the other 3 pictures I posted....

I have a feeling this tiger will haunt me the rest of my life because people seem to enjoy taking pictures of him underwater. In EVERY picture this tiger (Odin) looks like he's EXTREMELY pissed off and wanting to eat my balls off. I put the pictures on my website because I feel that if I continue to look at him I will eventually overcome my fear of him. But that's not going to happen anytime soon, as I just sharted.

Today is our 6th year wedding anniversary...

My oh my how things change in such a short amount of time. 6 years ago today right now, I'm pretty sure I was hearing my brother and a few friends of mine give their speeches right before we were all about to eat the dinner that Nicki's dad paid for. I think at 23 years old I was a little too young to comprehend everything that was going on though. Although I did wake up that day balling my eyes out for no apparent reason, calling my dad just so I could run the wedding by one last person before I actually walked down the aisle. What an emotional day. It felt like it flew by in 20 minutes.

Fast forward 6 years later, I'm sitting here on the couch, about 10 pounds heavier than I was when we got married. (Which isn't that bad by the way. Most people gain 4 to 5 pounds every year. At least I'm trying to eat right and workout.) I'm using Nicki's laptop to blog on my website, our beautiful daughter is asleep in her crib because we took her to the Oakland Zoo today, and Nicki is watching a movie whilst being pregnant. We have two dogs, a cat, a blessing of a home, one really nice car, one really shitty car, and 6 years worth of ups and downs.

If there is one thing I've learned about marriage in the last 6 years (and being with Nicki the last 8 year in whole) is that you HAVE TO have communication. OPEN communication. It does no good to bottle things up or hold grudges or not discuss important issues. And in fact, I believe that's probably the number one marriage killer. Lack of communication. So if you've learned nothing else from my ramblings on my website, learn this: Communicate with your spouse. Be open with each other, and love them unconditionally.
