Star Wars or YOUR ETERNAL SOUL?

I am tired.

I've been staying up late lately, and on top of that haven't been sleeping well because when you have a newborn you don't sleep like you used to. Last night about 12 co-workers and I went to see Superman. I really liked it. I thought it was a bit too romantic for an action movie, but I thought it delivered. It was uncanny how much Brandon Routh sounds like Christopher Reeve. I'd write a little review right now, but I can barely see the keyboard. Anyway, the movie ended at 1:30am, and I still had to put gas. AND, I was in Pleasanton on top of it. So I got around 3.5 hours of sleep by the time it was all said and done. And today has felt "white". Like everything is bright and loud and too much and PLEASE SHUT THE HELL UP WHY ARE YOU TALKING SO LOUD?!?!?

The fact that I'm a ninja get's in the way of a lot things...

For example, there is someone I really like. But I'm afraid that if I get involved, the evil dragon clan will undoubtedly become aware, and kidnap her. I just couldn't stand to lose yet another person I care about. I am not done with my training, and until then, I promised I would focus only on my training. My samurai sword is the closest friend I have. I call it "Yoshiro". Which in Japanese means "horrible paper cut".

My life is rather exciting however. Instead of going to an office for work in the morning, I enter a room full of Ninjas. All of them training hard and throwing ninja stars at each other. Last week Fred wasn't paying attention, and a ninja star hit him in the throat, killing him instantly. We do have a break room with a vending machine though, so that's pretty neat.

I got into trouble the other day however, because I was pulled over for wearing a ninja suit while driving. It wasn't until I produced my drivers license, that the cop let me move along.

Like I said, being a ninja is tough. But it's totally worth it when you are sent on a secret mission with only your ninja sword and 3 ninjar stars. I like my missions better after I get through the terrain a bit and find things to smash open. Usually there are some weapon upgrades or potions that help restore my life.

Getting your car towed.......

My friend Jackson posted a story on his blog about his friend getting his car towed. His story unlocked the key to the very dark place I had stored this awful memory of mine. Read on.

San Francisco. 2002. I have to deliver one phone to a building on California Street. There is a parking garage 3 or 4 blocks away that charges $7 minimum. So I find a yellow/white "delivery" parking spot in front of the building. I put my hazards on, park there, run up the building, drop the phone off. I think I'm done. "Wait!" The receptionist says. "Can you help me change my greeting?" To which I reluctantly reply, "Sure". I'm not kidding, 5 minutes later I'm out the door and down the stairs and my car is gone.

Towed.

After figuring out my car was towed, I finally found a pole with a phone number on it. I call the number. "Yes we just towed your vehicle, you have to come pick it up on Bryant street."

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I say to the guy. "I was in the building no longer than 10 minutes!!!" (Remember, this was back in 2002 when I had a potty mouth)

So I walk down to Bryant street where I discover that in San Francisco, aka, HELL, it's $205 to get your car out of the lot, not to mention the ticket. So before I can pay the tow yard which is located under the freeway onramp, I have to walk another 4 blocks to the police station and pay my ticket.

Well, I wasn't prepared to shell out almost $250 that day, so I called my boss and told him I wasn't thrilled he sent me to drop off a phone when he dropped the ball by not delivering it to the customer on time. Fast forward 4 hours later after a lot of frustration, phone calls to bitch about my situation to anyone that answered their phone when I dialed them, and a quarter pounder with cheese, my boss shows up and gives me the cash to cover the towing.

I hate San Francisco. I wish an earthquake would level that god forsaken land. I avoid going to the city if at all possible, and so should you.

Oh, to meter maids, GET A REAL JOB. Karma is a bitch. Someday I hope you get towed. Yeah. Towed.

I hope I'm never "found dead".

It seems like there have been an awful lot of news stories lately about people being found dead in rivers, houses, trunks, etc etc. When I die I want to either be sleeping, making sweet love (which would be traumatic for Nicki, but oh well) or already dead.

P.S. The word is pronounced just like it's spelled, "supposeDly". Not supposeBly. You know who you are.

Whew.........

It's safe right? I can leave Kayla alone for 5 minutes now right??

It's 7:30 pm, and I've been home from work for over two hours. Kayla has just finally started falling asleep after keeping Nicki and I up all night, and then Nicki up all day. The child did not want to sleep at all the past day and a half. I think it's cute, don't get me wrong, but the not cute part about it is when she is crying - no wait - screaming bloody murder for no apparent reason. You try rocking her, laying her down, turning the music on, putting a pacifier in her mouth, taking her on a car ride, taking her on a walk while she's in her carseat, holding her, and putting her in her swing. But nothing works. She's still crying her eyes out. Which by the way makes me laugh a little because I'm sick like that. I like to ask her things like "Do you even know what you're crying about?" and "Are you dying?" when she is crying like that.

Then magically it stops. (The guns, they've stopped) Kayla stops crying for no apparent rhyme or reason. She just starts looking up at me with those slate blue eyes and making the cutest little sounds and faces. We walk around the house together for a bit, listen to the new snow patrol album for a minute, lay down on the couch as she looks at my hair and smiles. So then I decide I'll go change her into her little jammy's. I do. I take her back to the living room, and put her in little swing. She's still happy. But there's this familiar look on her face. And then it happens. I realize why she has been happy the last 3 minutes.

She projectile vomits all over the place. I swear, swimming pools don't have that much liquid in them. It's all over everything. I'm freaking out. Our dumb dog (Jango, not Jedi) thinks is dessert time and starts coming over to "clean up the mess". I'm hurrying trying to find a towel while Kayla is laughing at me, the dog is eating her vomit, the radio station is playing a song I hate, and I too am covered in white breast milk. My daughter, the bulimic. She's only 3 weeks old, but Nicki used to love "Full House" and we all know what happened to baby Michelle. They grew up to be the poster children for back rib exposure. I hope Nicki didn't pass the "I want to be just like the girls I see on TV" gene.

So anyway, now Kayla and Nicki are asleep, I'm taking 5 minutes to myself to write this blog, and if God likes, I might get a good night sleep since Kayla just went to bed and has been up forever. Life is good. I'd do it all again tomorrow. Having a daughter is the best thing to ever happen to me. I love her little face. I gave her a nickname last night because it's just so damn cute when she makes noises and cries. I call her "little voice".

My new favorite song is....

Called "Heaven" from the band "Live". Here are the lyrics. I'm pretty sure you can figure out why I like it so much. Click here if you'd like to download it.

"Heaven"

You don't need no friends
get back your faith again
you have the power to believe
another dissident
take back your evidence
it has no power to deceive

I'll believe it when I see it, for myself

I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe.
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunset and I perceive

I sit with them all night
everything they say is right
but in the morning they were wrong
I'll be right by your side
come hell or water high
down any road you choose to roam

I'll believe it when I see it for myself

I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe.
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunset and I perceive, yeah

darling, I believe, Oh Lord
sometimes it's hard to breathe, Lord
at the bottom of the sea, yeah yeah

Someday when Kayla is about 5....

She's going to come to me and say, "Daddy the ice cream truck is driving by!! Can I get a popsicle?!!?" And I'm going to say "No Kayla, you cannot." She'll probably question why, but I'm going to remain silent. Then when she walks away, I'm going to go outside, flag down the ice cream truck, and buy myself a popsicle. Then I'm going to walk back in the house, eat it in front of her and say "God this is good! I bet you wish you had one huh!"

I'm sick and tired....

Of hearing the MPAA (Motion Picture Association) and the Music Industry complain about how much money they lose every year on piracy. I'm definitely not condoning piracy, but here's my issue.

How much does it cost nowadays to buy a CD or go to the movies? The prices are astronomical. On average, a CD is $15-$20. And what you're really paying for are maybe 3 to 4 good songs, and 10 songs you could live without. Movies cost almost $10 a person, not to mention how much the price of food at theaters. With the price of gas over $3 a gallon, the cost of homes astronomical (especially in the bay area), and plenty of other things with their prices getting higher, it's no wonder people are choosing to pay little or nothing for their entertainment. Maybe if the MPAA and the record companies decided to lower prices and make movies and music something the average family could do without breaking the bank, more people would go. Why do prices for CD's and movies have to go up every 6 months to a year or so? It just makes it really hard when everytime you turn around, prices are going up, and you keep making the same amount of money as you always have. When you get a raise, you usually get a percentage. But when movies and entertainment items prices go up, they go up almost whole dollar amounts.

I would almost guarantee that if they lowered the prices on movies and music, they would make more sales.
